Tired of the drab monogrammed LV bags and merchandise? Well, clever Marc Jacobs and his affection for Yayoi Kusama have resulted in the exclusive collection that is definitive with Kusama’s signature style. Kicking the series off with “obsession and seriality,” Jacobs and Kusama have come up with a line that is bold and features graphic polka dots.
As reported earlier, the collection was to be unveiled on the 10th of July, and we recently spied a wax model of the artist, displayed in the windows of the flagship 5th Avenue store (New York); polka dots and kitsch styling intact! As for the timing, it’s perfect! Whitney Museum of American Art’s is currently hosting Kusama’s latest works, so you can hop over and visit that too!
Apparently the dots cover shoes, handbags, shirts, skirts and sunglasses, almost anything and everything! The display window pays homage to three Kusama motifs: “Beginning of the Universe,” “Eternal Blooming Flowers in My Mind” and “Self-Obliteration.” Notable, even the building fa?ade of the NY store is wrapped in polka dots! Awesome!
